Station DIVA - Digital Video Archive
SCCA, Center for Contemporary Arts - Ljubljana
Organisation: A3 NGO and MMSU

Welcome to the exhibition space of Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art (MMSU) in Rijeka on a lecture, presentation, projection, discussion about material and web archive of local video art. SCCA - Ljubljana has been developing Station DIVA since 2005. Station DIVA is a continuation of a number of research, documentation and archive projects in the field of video / media art (Videodokument, curatorial selections of video works Videospotting, artists' Internet Portfolio, Artservis Collection and e-archive). After a successful presentation of Station DIVA at Škuc Gallery in June 2009, we are also presenting Station DIVA on different festivals (Ars Electronica 2009 in Media Scape 2009 in Novigrad) and on other occasions in order to inform the wider public about the theoretical, practical and artistic aspects of audiovisual archives of contemporary art.

Station DIVA is also a partner archive in an international platform GAMA (Gateway to Archives of Media Art) that connects different European video / media archives and enables them with better visibility and wider accessibility.

Different aspects of creating video / media archive Station DIVA will be presented by SCCA's director Barbara Borčić who will speak about the context and historical necessity to form archives of media art. Critic and publicist Ida Hiršenfelder will present the methods of data processing for video materials from content and technical point of view. Multimedia artist and programmer of web archive Borut Savski will speak about the methods of representing video net archives and about the ways of dissemination of knowledge about video / media artworks.

Presentation is a part of IDI VIDI Project by A3 NGO, supported by Municipality Department for Culture of Rijeka City.
