The Road to Success is
under Repair.
The Manila Art Scene

Wednesday, February 17, 2010, at 7 pm
Project Room SCCA, Metelkova 6, Ljubljana

No Nails, No Pedestals is presenting authors, working in the field of contemporary artistic practices (installations, performances, video, interdisciplinary & web projects). The artists can present their works by using different media and program tools for presentation on computer screens, television sets and wall projections. The audience is encouraged to reflect the works and intervene in the discussion and thus add to the interpretational level of artistic practices with their feedback.

Lena Cobangbang, multimedia artist who lives and works in the Philippines will have presentation of her work and artistic scene in Manila.

Lena CobangbangLena Cobangbang (1976) graduated at the University of the Philippines, Diliman, Units in Bachelor of Fine Arts Major in Painting. She prepared her last solo exhibition last year: Crater Valley Plateau, The Video Room, Finale Art File, Makati City. She has participated in numerous group exhibitions, amongst others in 2008 Singapore Biennale. In 2008 she received a scholarship Silverlens Acquisition Grant Foundation and in 2006 was rewarded with CCP 13 Artist Award. In 2008 she attended the meeting for promising young Asian artists, curators and managers, organized by The Substation, Costa Sands Resort, Sentosa Island, Singapore. In addition to artistic practice she is also involved in film productions and she works as scenographer and as art director.

In the period 2009-2010, she is a guest of Pekarna magdalenske mreže, in the framework of the project Philippines-Slovenia, Short Circuit Tactical Exchange. Short Circuit Tactical Exchange is a project of two institutions, Pekarna magdalenske mreže (Maribor) and Green Papaya Art Projects (Manila), financially supported by ASEF. Regardless of radically different geo-political contexts, both organizations bound in a unique independent activism, which in its specific way is addressing the traps of independence. The same applies to individual artists and the scene, so the purpose of the project is to face two selected artist (Miha Horvat, son: DA and Lena Cobangbang) and live them research local scenes and events, which is documented on the project website Short Circuit Tactical Exchange.
