Visual artist, art theorist, and professor Uršula Berlot’s artistic and research work focuses on the intersections of art, science, and philosophy. In her artistic work, she focuses on the invisible and immaterial aspects of reality, often using technologically advanced optical research tools (radiology, microscopy) to explore the liminal aspects of perceptual experience. In her experimental and research-oriented artistic practice, she intertwines various media and genres, exploring forms of mental spaces, the question of simulated nature, and the relationships between mind, body, and technology in video works, light-kinetic installations, and drawings. At the event, she will present a selection of videos and works in other media from her rich oeuvre, in which she uses reflections of microscopic and optical technologies.

Uršula Berlot Pompe (1973) is a visual artist, art theorist, and professor at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana. She studied philosophy at the Faculty of Arts in Ljubljana for two years, then painting at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana, and at the Beaux-Arts Academy in Paris. In 2010, she received her doctorate from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design, University of Ljubljana, where she has been teaching at the Department of Theoretical Sciences since 2009.
