As part of the Back2Back events, we invite local and international artists to present their work and engage in a dialogue with pieces from the Postaja DIVA archive of their own choosing. Multimedia artist Gregor Kocjančič, creator of the award-winning experimental short film Ninth Village (Deveta Vas, 2025) and its sequel, Ninth Peak (Deveti Vrh, 2026) compiled the programme as a journey through maps and places, exploring the connections between villages and cities.
PROGRAMME
The village grew into a city
Curator: Gregor Kocjančič
Duration: 55′
This documentary, investigative and, to some extent, experimental adventure will take us from the countryside to the city centre and, finally, to the high mountains. We will explore Slovenian villages, the town of Krško and its surroundings, where we will seek out LGBTQ+ communities. We will continue to the capital, to the former autonomous Rog factory, and listen to passers-by as they tell us which woman they would erect a monument to in Ljubljana. Accompanied by jazz music, we will stroll through the city, pass through Sarajevo, and slowly rise above the clouds. To round things off, we will head back home and explore Slovenia’s peaks.
